Take Stock in Children of Lake and Sumter Counties is recruiting eligible 8th grade students for the 2026–2027 school year. The program provides students with one-on-one mentoring, college and career readiness support, and upon graduation from the program, a two-year Florida Prepaid college scholarship. Take Stock in Children is designed to support motivated students who are committed to academic success and planning for their future.
In Lake County, Take Stock in Children continues to demonstrate strong outcomes. In 2025, 33 graduating seniors earned Florida Prepaid College Plans valued at more than $200,000, helping reduce financial barriers to postsecondary education for local families. These results reflect the power of mentorship, accountability, and community investment in student success.
